New York Judge Grants Judgment On The Pleadings In Copyright Dispute

NEW YORK - A declaratory judgment plaintiff won judgment on the pleadings on Dec. 18 pursuant to Federal Rule of Civil Procedure 12(c), after persuading a New York federal judge that whatever similarities exist between a film and three screenplays, those similarities are not entitled to copyright protection (Effie Film LLC v. Eve Pomerance, No. 11-7087, S.D. N.Y.).
