The Place to Be in Litigation – Intellectual Property. IP Budgets Projected to Increase.
As reported by Law360, a
recent survey by Fulbright & Jaworski LLP shows that several companies are planning
to increase their IP litigation budgets.
Of the 392 in-house
attorneys surveyed, 13 percent expect an increase in their IP litigation budget,
with only 5 percent planning to spend less. The rest expect no change.
As the economy rebounds, so
does patent litigation. The IP suit put off yesterday because of the recession
is today, litigation affordable. And if filing a lawsuit is again affordable, that
means IP litigation budgets must also increase for defendant companies.
IP litigation costs can range
from the millions to the tens of millions, with IP litigation budgets being
mainly driven by patent lawsuits.
