Does the forum newsserver connect with a different port than the default NNTP 119? I do not reach any connection to news://pmforums.lexisnexis.com at 119.

No, it uses the standard ports.

I am using the Outlook Express newsreader, for example, without any modifications.

Perhaps the server is out, but I've tried every combination of settings (authentication, direct, SSL, etc.) on Thunderbird, and cannot get in. No ultimate harm, I guess, because I had no trouble subscribing to the RSS feeds with Thunderbird, but it's curious why the NNTP didn't work.

Okay, forget my previous reply. The newsgroup connection is now working just fine. Although RSS is good, the NNTP connection allows a user to write not just read.
