As a general rule, don't add items from within the check register, if they can be added by other means. To correctly record a transfer from one bank account to another, use the General Journal entry feature. From the menu bar, go to Accounting, General Journal. (Add the button to your preferred toolbar for one-click access.) Click on new. Enter the date you want reflected in the ledger AND on the check registers. Enter a description. Tab to the account field. Click 'insert', and select the bank asset account you are ADDING money to. Enter the amount in the DEBIT column. Click enter. Click insert to add a second line item. In the account area, select the bank asset account you are REMOVING money from. Tab to the CREDIT column and enter the amount. Click enter, then save the journal record. The entries will be reflected on each bank account register, and on the financial reports. For recurring entries, you can create an auto-entry form for use with the General Journal. (Requires version 7 or higher.)
