I was wondering if anyone has used Windows 7 on a workstation to connect to a TM9E database. The install went fine but I'm getting "cannot connect to sql server". It is showing all connection parameters correctly and I can ping the server. All other XP stations connect fine. Just wordering if it's Windows 7 compatibility issue or someting else. Thanks

Jeff,

Are you able to establish a Data Source Name (ODBC) to the Time Matters 9 database?

The ODBC connection did not work untill I specified the port. I then went into the TM file locations and changed the sql server line to <servername>\<sqlinstance>, <portnumber> (TimeMatters9). This fixed the connection. I also found Sql Server was not using the default port 1433 even though I never changed it. Thanks for your responce.

That certainly explains it but seems like that would be the case for the XP machines as well.  Good catch.

If I set up an ODBC connection on an XP Machine It figures out the port number without specifying it. Windows 7 for some reason has trouble determining the port without specifying it.
