It does sound like a scanner TWAIN software issue. Now, however, I'm curious. If you have the full version of Adobe Acrobat (NOT the reader), you can try to Scan to PDF/Create PDF from Scanner (depends on your version), then TM Save the PDF from Acrobat. If you are able, give this a try and report back.
