WAKE-UP CALL: Rapid Smartphone Growth Makes Mobile Marketing Essential for Lawyers
In 2012, the U.S. smartphone market surpassed 50 percent market penetration, according to a study recently released by comScore.*
What does this major milestone mean for attorneys marketing to consumers?
With comScore reporting more than 125 million smartphone subscribers for 2012, not to mention 50 million tablet owners, your law firm's website needs to be optimized to be viewed on these smaller devices. Otherwise, potential clients who find you online through their mobile devices will bounce away and land on competitors' sites.
Still not convinced? Think of it like this: According to the study, one in three minutes spent online is now spent "beyond the PC," or on mobile devices. If consumers cannot easily navigate your website, get the information they need to make a quick decision, and then conveniently contact your firm with a click or two, you will lose business opportunities.
Moreover, if you do not have a mobile version of your firm's website, the clock is ticking. Mobile adoption has been fast and furious. The more than 125 million smartphone subscribers reported by comScore marks a 29 percent increase from 2011 and a 99 percent increase from 2010.
