Sean M. Craig was born in Muncie, Indiana.
He attended Northwestern
University (B.A., 1994)
and was a member of Phi Delta Theta for his undergraduate degree in Economics. After completing his undergraduate education,
he attended Southern Methodist University School of Law (J.D., 1997) for his
graduate legal degree, and New York University School of Law (LL.M. 1998) for
his masters in tax law. He was admitted
to the Texas
bar in 1998.
Mr. Craig's legal practice has
focused on various areas of federal and state income tax law, including
personal, corporate, and partnership taxation as well as various procedural
issues. Additionally, he does work
involving tax issues posed by bankruptcy proceedings. His legal practice was spent as an Associate
with a large Texas
based law firm, the National Tax Practice groups with two different Big 4
Accounting Firms, and as In-House Corporate Tax Counsel for various Fortune 500
companies.
As a Lexis Federal
Tax Analyst, Mr. Craig currently edits and updates the Lexis Tax Advisor-Federal Code Reporter, Lexis Tax Advisor -Federal Topical, and
the Matthew Bender treatises Rabkin &
Johnson Federal Tax Guidebook and Taxation
of Executive Compensation: Planning and Practice. He is the author of the article
"Government Grants & Subsidies and IRC Section 118: An Analysis of the
Interplay Between the Section 118 Exclusion and IRS Objectives" published in Bender's Business Tax Articles.
Mr. Craig resides in Jacksonville
with his wife Sonia and his two school-aged children. His interests outside of
the law include teaching his son to drive, traveling overseas, and exercising
with his wife. He also volunteers for a
local shelter for abused women and children and is the chairman of the
Northwestern University Alumni Admission Council for North
Florida.
