Magistrate Judge: Plaintiff Can Pursue Debt Collection Claims Against Servicer

SAN FRANCISCO - A federal magistrate judge in California on Dec. 14 held that a woman sufficiently alleged claims under Sections 1692(d) and 1692(e) of the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA) and held that the servicer of her mortgage loan could be found liable for violating the act after one of its representatives called her an "un-American thief" (Jamie Skinner v.
