6th Circuit Affirms Dismissal Of Discriminatory Lending Lawsuit

CINCINNATI - A federal district court did not err in rejecting class certification to a group of black and Hispanic consumers who obtained one or more home mortgage loans from Countrywide Bank N.A. between 2005 and 2007 and claim that they were discriminated against by being charged higher rates and other costs than those provided to similarly situated nonminority customers, a Sixth Circuit U.S. Court of Appeals panel ruled Jan. 15 (In re: Countrywide Financial Mortgage Lending Practices Litigation; Gillian Miller, et al. v. Countrywide Bank, N.A., et al., No. 12-5250, 6th Cir.).
