I want to take this chance to wish all of our readers a very Happy Thanksgiving! 

As our CEO Mike Walsh reminded all of us here in LexisNexis US Legal Markets via email yesterday, "Today, Thanksgiving is marked by football, the Macy's Thanksgiving Day parade, a big meal with family and friends and getting ready for Black Friday - the busiest shopping day of the year. However our ancestors originally designated Thanksgiving as a day to give thanks for the harvest and express gratitude in general."  And despite the challenges of the past year, there is plenty to be grateful for.

In addition to the blessings of health and happiness that I've been the recipient of over the past year, I'm grateful for the large following this blog has generated over the past 6-9 months.  And I'm grateful for all of our contributors, no matter how infrequent some of them are!

It's been a tough year for legal markets in general, marked by layoffs, declining profits, and uncertainty about the future.   But I wanted to take a moment to recognize the Lexis Cares program that has flourished here at Redwood in spite of the economy.  Through the LexisNexis Cares Redwood Initiative we have funded 6 school related projects in underserved schools.  Our funding has enabled teachers to buy supplies ranging from scissors to yoga mats to support 224 students in impoverished school districts.  And this initiative is just a small piece of the overall Lexis Cares initiative.  I'm so proud of all my colleagues who have participated in this effort over the past year.
