After suspending his blog back in June of 2008, David Maister has officially announced his retirement today, not just from blogging, but from all consulting, speaking, and writing engagements. We here at MPI wish him well in retirement, but recognize that this leaves a great void in the professional services industry. He has consistently been one of the great thinkers in law firm consulting, and is known for ideas which are not only inspiring for law firm leaders, but also implementable. We have modeled the ideas within this blog along these lines; we want to inspire our readers, but also provide actionable content, that is achievable within a law firm today.
Through his Know Your Alternatives series, MPI blogger Russ Haskin provides insights into the broad world of alternative fee arrangements today, but also suggests practical ways to implement them at your firm, by starting small. And throughout the blog we have provided actionable ideas for inventory management, managing cash flow, and law firm management. We know we won't be able to fill the gap in professional services consulting left behind by the retirement of David Maister, but we do hope that law firms will continue to look to us, both here at MPI and in our consulting services, for guidance and ideas. We wish all of our readers well in the New Year, and look forward to continuing to blog and learn here with you!
