CT: Stop-Work Orders at Patterson Club for Misclassification of Workers Sparks Protest by Carpenters Union

FAIRFIELD, CT - The State Labor Department has posted five stop-work orders on the chain-link fences at the Patterson Club's new $17 million clubhouse, this for the misclassification of workers as independent contractors. A carpenter union has been protesting at the site, saying that the issuance of these types of stop-work orders could mean a legitimate firm that's following the rules on classifying workers as employees and paying various taxes and workers' compensation insurance was at a disadvantage during the bidding process for this project.
