Obama Administration Refuses to Back Long-Term Funding for Healthcare of 9/11 Workers

WASHINGTON, D.C. - The Obama administration has stated that it would not support the James Zadroga 9/11 Health and Compensation Act of 2009, which would set up long-term funding for the medical monitoring and treatment of first responders, volunteers, and recovery and clean-up workers after the 9/11 terrorist attacks. The administration offered instead to increase the 2011 budget to $150 million for 9/11 medical monitoring and treatment programs.
