My Dialer Software is not communicating with the modem I have in my PC. What should I
do?
Take the following steps to fix this problem:
1. Click Start, and select Settings.
2. Click Control Panel.
3. Double click the modem icon.
4. Double click Add Modem.
5. Select standard 28800 modem on the models screen to install the modem.
6. Double click the Internet Dialer software Icon on your Desktop.
7. Click Properties
8. Select Standard 28800 modem under connect using.
9. Click OK.
10. Sign on to the Dialer.

I receive the following error message when I attempt to use the dialer: Exception Error at 0002. What should I
do?
This results from a compatibility problem with a program called FirstGear. Take the following steps to disable
FirstGear:
1. Right-click the FirstGear icon on the bottom of your Windows desktop and select Exit.
2. If these steps do not work, please call LexisNexis Customer Support at

What should I do if I receive an Error 645 when I attempt to use the dialer?
Take the following steps to fix this problem:
1. Reboot your computer.
2. Wait 10 minutes and try again.
3. Uninstall and reinstall your Internet Dialer software.
NOTE: Installation procedures vary depending on which Internet Dialer you use. Refer to the

When I connect to the lexis.com Connection Software it connects and then
tries to open AOL browser. How do I stop this from happening?
Take the following steps to block automatic launch of your AOL browser:
1. Click the Start button in the lower left-hand corner of your desktop.
2. Select Programs and click on Internet Explorer.
3. Click Tools and select Internet Options.
4. Click the Programs tab.
5. Click to check mark the box next to Internet Explorer should check to see whether it is the default browser and click
OK.
6. Close and reopen your browser and select Internet Explorer as the default browser.

I search on nexis.com, but when I connect using the lexis.com Connection Software it takes me to the lexis.com web site. What should I

The lexis.com Connection software defaults to lexis.com by design, but you can add a bookmark or favorite in your browser for nexis.com.
