LexisNexis Screening Solutions launches Candidate Eligibility Factors – a prescreening package with "personality"
Fast insight into an applicant’s past and future behavior at work saves employers time and money by identifying “high-risk” candidates earlier in the hiring process
May 17, 2010 — NEW YORK, NY – LexisNexis® Screening Solutions today announced the availability of LexisNexis® Candidate Eligibility Factors (CEF), an innovative new prescreening package that combines quick database searches with an easy online assessment tool designed to identify highly reliable and dependable candidates. Using the SHL Group’s Dependability and Safety Instrument (DSI) as the first step in the prescreening package, the LexisNexis CEF solution helps employers efficiently identify candidates with work ethics that align with their internal hiring requirements, saving them time and money associated with additional screening and in-person interviews.
Global research performed by SHL, a leading global provider of behavioral and ability assessment tools, on its DSI assessment product revealed that:
• Candidates within the retail industry who scored highest (top 30 percent) were twice as likely to be rated highly for customer service.
• Candidates within the customer service sector who scored lowest were twice as likely to have more absences and be late to work.
• Candidates within the transportation industry who scored lowest were five times as likely to have one more accident on their record.
“Think of our CEF product as a “risk assessment” that helps you quickly hone in on the best candidates, without requiring additional time or resources,” said Lee Rivas, vice president of LexisNexis Screening Solutions. “It extracts objective, accurate information from candidates earlier in the hiring process than traditional prescreening tools, without slowing down the process.”
The LexisNexis CEF prescreening package typically consists of the following components processed in the stated order.
• Step 1 is the assessment, which includes the DSI online assessment tool.
• Step 2 is the background check, which includes a Social Security Number Verification and a LexisNexis National Criminal File search.
Candidates can complete the DSI online in less than 10 minutes, which generates an instant “dependability” score that is a proven predictor of accident rates, improved customer service, unauthorized absences and counterproductive work behaviors. Only if a candidate passes the DSI—based on customer-provided scoring criteria—will remaining searches be processed. The employer receives real-time results and is only charged for the package components that are processed.
“Employers have been painfully wading through stacks of applications and resumes in recent years. Now they have a powerful tool to help them quickly identify the best employees – people who will show up on time and deliver quality service,” said Teresa Fearis, SHL Director Global Alliances. “With the LexisNexis CEF prescreening package, organizations can hire better employees, faster and at a lower cost making it a win-win for everybody.”
