PDR Network and Reed Technology Launch PDR®3D™ - The Industry's Most Comprehensive Drug Label Database Platform

Deeper Drug Label Database and Advanced Capabilities Provide Greater Value to Customers Across Industries

April 5, 2011 — MONTVALE, NJ; HORSHAM, PA - Network (www.PDRNetwork.com) and Reed Technology and Information Services (www.ReedTech.com) today announced the launch of PDR3D (Digital Drug Database) – a new premium drug label reference product. Accessible through www.PDR3D.com, PDR3D features the industry's most comprehensive human drug label database, a suite of advanced services and an easy-to-use interface. This new product was developed by PDR Network -the trusted industry leader in essential prescribing and labeling information to U.S. physicians for over 65 years -and Reed Technology, part of the LexisNexis® -providers of a wide range of electronic content management services to pharmaceutical manufacturers.

"We are excited about the opportunity to collaborate with Reed Technology to create this new platform which is specifically designed to better meet the challenging research demands of our clients," explained David Tanzer, President of PDR Network. "PDR3D provides a new depth of label information pulling from PDR Network's vast database to include the entire set of FDA-approved prescription drugs, over the counter (OTC) drugs, and homeopathic drugs/herbal medicines."

"PDR3D leverages the digital content management expertise of Reed Technology and the vast drug labeling experience of PDR Network, thus providing a new level of service and value for pharmaceutical researchers," said Sam Hardman, President of Reed Technology. "By merging PDR Network's proprietary drug information with Reed Tech's respected content and functionality, we are creating the most comprehensive drug label database in the marketplace."

More than a quarter of all prescription drugs have meaningful labeling changes annually - from new warnings to changes in dosing and indications. The new PDR3D platform provides easy access for users while ensuring the most current labeling information is available to make business-critical decisions.

PDR3D is the most complete reference tool for FDA-approved drug labels available to research professionals. Key features of PDR3D include:

  • The most comprehensive label database available with more than 34,000 human drug labels;
  • Daily database updates to ensure access to the most current, comprehensive information available;
  • A newly designed interface with easier access to enhanced features and database search tools;
  • Ability to find labels by fields (including Product Name, National Drug Code (NDC), RxNorm, Type, Ingredients, dosage form, visual characteristics, and many other fields) or searching using full text;
  • Full information for current-in-use and up to five years of prior versions of prescription drug labels; and
  • Access to supporting FDA documentation, including approval letters, statistical reviews, correspondence, etc.

"We began our development of PDR3D in response to extensive feedback we received from our customers who needed a more advanced reference platform," noted Andrew Gelman, Senior Vice President responsible for Digital Subscription Services at PDR Network. "By combining the most comprehensive database of drug labeling information with best-in-class search tools, PDR3D demonstrates our continued commitment to providing our customers with solutions to meet the demands of the ever-changing health care industry."

PDR3D is a new product that PDR Network is making available at no additional charge to current PDR® Electronic Library™ customers. Current users of Reed Tech's LabelDataPlus™ human health information will be offered a two-week free trial and the opportunity to subscribe to PDR3D. Users of LabelDataPlus animal health information will continue to have access to that content as they do now.

The release of PDR3D represents the first collaboration by PDR Network and Reed Technology under their newly-established strategic relationship. The companies will also leverage their complementary strengths to develop additional services for drug and device manufacturers. These ventures include PDR Network's selection of Reed Tech as their book composition provider for the Physicians' Desk Reference (PDR®) – the most highly trusted and commonly used drug information reference available in the U.S.
