The Results page includes features to help you get the most out of your search results. For example, you may:
click any of the tabs located at the top of the Results list to change how your results are displayed:
Result List — Displays document names in a numbered list. It also displays basic information about the documents such as sources.
Expanded List — Displays the same information as in List View for each document, along with your search terms in context.
KWIC — Displays documents in the "Key Words In Context" format, showing each of your search terms surrounded by a window of text. The KWIC format is useful for determining if a document is applicable to your research topic. The default number of words displayed with each search term found is 25 before/25 after.
Full Document — Displays the full text of the documents your search found.
click the Edit Search link to return to the search form and edit your original search.
click the "Sort By" links to change the order in which your results are displayed, which can make them easier to review. Sort options vary according to the types of documents in your results.
Use the FOCUS™ Search box to search within your original results.
To use the FOCUS™ Search feature, type the words or phrases that you would like to focus on within the current results, then click the Go button. For more information about this feature, see Narrowing Your Search Results.
To undo a FOCUS™ Search, click your original search terms, which are displayed as a hyperlink directly above the View Format tabs.
click one of the following icons to print or email your results. For more information, click the Tips link () on the resulting Print or Email form.
— Print all or selected documents to an attached printer.
— Email all or selected documents to one or more email addresses.
At the top and bottom of the page, click these buttons to skip through larger sets of results at one time.
Click to view the first set of your results.
Click to view the previous set of your results.
Click to view the next set of your results.
Click to view the last set of your results.
At the bottom right of the Results page is a drop-down list listing all the individual pages of results making up your answer set. Select an entry to jump to the corresponding section of the answer set.
If a map is available, a MAP-SHEETS area will be included in your full document. The following options are available for maps:
Thumbnail - Click one of the links to either show or hide all available thumbnails. A thumbnail is a small version of an image, linked to the larger version.
View - Click either the link, which shows the map ID, such as 7482_H.doc.1768_map_sheet_1, or the thumbnail to view the map using the Map Viewer.
Download - Click the link to view the map in a new browser window.
Note: Some browsers may not recognize all download types. For instance, you may see an error that says that files with a type of jp2 are not recognized by your browser. JPEG 2000 is an image compression standard that operates at higher compression ratios than jpg, allowing for multiple resolutions, progressive display, tiling, region of interest coding and many other advanced features. Although the browser may not recognize the jp2 format, it is a normal, valid image format.
