Use the Political News form to search for articles that have appeared within the following Washington news publications: The Washington Post Section A, Roll Call, and The Hill.
Type one or more terms for your search into this field. As with other keyword searches throughout LexisNexis® Congressional, Boolean connectors and wildcard characters are permitted.
Tip: Search strings are not case-sensitive. For example, the system will not distinguish between President Bush and president bush, and will return identical results for both.
For detailed information on how to build a search string, refer to Building a Search String.
Use the "In" option to limit your search to a specific segment within a document. Segments are particular text types within a document: Full Text; Headline; Byline; Body; Organization; and Person.
Tip: The "In" setting is optional. If you do not make a selection, the system defaults to a full text search.
Headline: Using patients bill of rights as a keyword, a search will return only articles where "patients bill of rights" appears in the Headline.
Byline: Using Broder as a keyword, a search will return only articles where "broder" appears in the byline.
Body: Using campaign finance reform as a keyword, a search will return only articles with "campaign finance reform" in the main text.
Organization: Using Senate Finance Committee as a keyword, a search will return only articles marked as referring to the Senate Finance Committee.
Person: Using Colin Powell as a keyword, a search will return only articles marked as referring to Colin Powell.
Use the "Search within" option to specify any combination of the publications to search.
Use the "Restrict by date" option to limit your search to a specific time period. For a details on this feature, refer to Restricting a Search by Date.
