You want the fastest performance possible when you're using this service. If you are a customer who is billed hourly (rather than per transaction) by LexisNexis, performance is even more important to you.

Several factors affect performance while using this service, including the speed of your Internet Service Provider (ISP), the speed of your PC, and your own internal network. If you are experiencing slow access times because of high traffic or other problems, please contact your ISP. LexisNexis cannot control the access times of your internet service provider and cannot issue credits for problems related to your ISP.

Following are some recommendations for performance:

Hardware
Processor
PC: Pentium/233Mhz (or above)
Mac: Power PC G3 (or above)

RAM
128 MB (256 MB or higher recommended)

Note: If you generally run multiple applications or browser windows simultaneously, this will affect memory and overall performance so higher RAM is recommended.

Connection Methods
Modem
Modem speed: 56K or above (ISDN, ADSL or cable modem)

Note: If your ISP does not provide this modem speed, you may connect using the LexisNexis Internet Dialer, provided to LexisNexis customers free of charge. For more information, call Customer Support.

LAN Connection
A TCP/IP connection of suitable speed with Internet access

Note: LAN firewalls, proxy servers, and network administration software including virus scanners, other traffic on the network, etc., all may impact performance.

Note:

  • For fastest performance, enable the HTTP 1.1 protocol in your browser's advanced settings.

  • To use features such as print preview and PDF delivery, turn your browser's popup blocker off or add the LexisNexis URL to the browser's list of allowed sites for popups.

Computer Screen Resolution

For optimal viewing of our latest and most effective features, please set your computer screen resolution to a minimum of 1024 by 768 pixels. You can change these settings in your computer's display control panel.

Note: Lower screen resolutions (640 by 480 pixels or 800 by 600 pixels) can be used, but you will not have access to full screen navigation features.

The Microsoft Corporation recently issued a service pack release for Windows XP® users designed to address security concerns affecting users of Internet Explorer 6 and the XP operating system. Included in the service pack are a firewall and a pop-up blocker that are defaulted "on."

  1. Open Internet Explorer.
  2. Click Help.
  3. Click "About Internet Explorer".

If this service pack has been installed, the Update Version on the fourth line will read "SP2".

  1. Open Internet Explorer.
  2. Click Tools.
  3. Click Internet Options.
  4. Click the Security tab.
  5. Click the Trusted Sites icon.
  6. Set the Security Level to Low.
  7. Click the Sites button.
  8. Remove the check from the "Require Server Verification" box. (This may be rechecked after adding the LexisNexis sites.)
  9. In the "Add this Web site to the zone:" field, enter *.lexis.com.
  10. Click "Add."
  11. Repeat steps 9 and 10 for *.lexisnexis.com, *.lexis-nexis.com, and *.nexis.com.
  12. Click OK.
  13. Click OK to close the Internet Options window.
  14. Close Internet Explorer.
  15. Re-open Internet Explorer.

For each, after you type the address, look at the status bar in the bottom right of the browser window. If the status bar has a green circle with a white check in it, the site is already a Trusted site.

If you have added the LexisNexis domains as trusted sites prior to the installation of this service pack, the service pack will not overwrite the settings and you should see no effect.
