Topical Indexing
The LexisNexis News & Business taxonomies organize thousands of subject and industry terms that can be used to search LexisNexis content. This controlled vocabulary covers a wide range of topics including Banking & Financial Services, Advertising & Marketing, Computers & Technology, Crime & Justice, Trends & Events and much more.
Subject experts and information professionals create topical index terms and the algorithmic rules governing their application. These experts then test and analyze their results before a term is released into production. Controlled vocabularies are applied to new documents as they are added to the system.

New terms are put into production each week. The terms are added based on both the need of a particular taxonomy and customer feedback. Periodically all indexed documents are retrospectively updated with the latest vocabularies.
Name changes do occur on certain topical terms when the indexing team determines that the scope of the term has changed or to provide greater context for the term. New term names will be applied to all documents when those documents are retrospectively updated with the latest vocabularies.
