How to Find Current Congressional Legislation on www.lexis.com

To find information regarding current federal legislation on www.lexis.com use the Get a Document Feature, run a search in the source Congressional Full Text Bills – Current Congress and search in News.
Use the Get a Document feature to pull up a bill when you know the bill number. For example, to pull up House Resolution 3128, click the Get a Document tab at the top part of your screen, and enter the following cite in the Get by Citation entry field: 2005 H.R. 3128. Once in this document you can also link out to the Bill Tracking report to see the most current action on this Bill.
To find information regarding a bill when the bill number is unknown, run a search in the source Congressional Full Text Bills – Current Congress. To search in this source go to:
Legal > Legislation & Politics – U.S. & U.K. > U.S. Congress > Congressional Full Text Bills – Current Congress
and run a search using terms you know deal with the bill. For example, if you know the bill deals with discrimination in federal employment, run the search: discriminat! /5 federal /5 employ!
To review news articles discussing a bill go to:
News & Business > News > News, Most Recent Two Years (English, Full Text)
and run a search using the bill number and any additional information you have to help narrow the search. For example to find news articles discussing HR 3128 run the search: discriminat! /25 3128
