Finding Patent Litigation

Courts regularly send out notices with regard to litigation concerning patents—but did you know that LexisNexis® provides a convenient method to locate this patent litigation information?  We update the patent itself and insert the litigation information into the REEXAM-LITIGATE segment.

To view litigation information for patent number 4,493,248, take the following steps:

  1. Click Get a Document.
  2. Enter pat-no 4493248 in the Get by Citation field.
  3. Click Get to retrieve the patent.
  4. Once you retrieve the patent, click Custom in the upper-left corner to show a list of the available segments.
  5. Click Clear All to remove the checkboxes next to all segments.
  6. Click the box next to Reexam-litigate.
  7. Click OK to return to the patent.

The information shown lists all the notices of litigation that have been received by LexisNexis for this patent.

Notices of litigation are sent out by the courts approximately one month after any litigation is filed concerning a patent. LexisNexis receives the notices at least once a week and places them online as soon as they are received.
