Common Methods for Searching Industry Sources

The following sample searches illustrate common methods for searching in some of the industry sources on the LexisNexis® services:

Datamonitor Industry Report -- Use the INDUSTRY segment to find current, global and regional market analysis, and detailed forecast and macroeconomic data on a specific industry within the following six industry sectors: Healthcare, Technology, Automotive, Energy, Consumer Markets, and Financial Services. For example, take the following steps to find global market analysis of the publishing industry:

  1. Click the Search tab.
  2. Click the News & Business source tab.
  3. Click the following links in the order listed to search the Datamonitor-Industry Report:
    Market & Industry / By Industry & Topic / Datamonitor-Industry Report .
  4. Click the radio button in front of Terms and Connectors.
  5. Enter industry (publishing) in the search field.
  6. Click Search.

Integra Industry Reports -- Use the INDUSTRY segment to find a current industry description and at least two years of aggregate financial statements for 13 separate sales ranges on a specific industry. For example, take the following steps to find the balance sheet and key financial ratios for the entertainment industry:

  1. Click the Search tab.
  2. Click the News & Business source tab.
  3. Click the following links in the order listed to search the Integra Industry Reports: Market & Industry / By Industry & Topic / Integra Industry Reports
  4. Click the radio button in front of Terms and Connectors.
  5. Enter industry (entertainment) in the search field.
  6. Click Search.

Standard & Poor's Monthly Industry Review -- Use the INDUSTRY segment to find current snapshots on a specific industry with the following information in PDF format: a brief industry overview, a chart showing five-year trends for the industry's performance, and comparisons to the S&P 1500 index. For example, take the following steps to find a snapshot of the advertising industry:

  1. Click the Search tab.
  2. Click the News & Businesssource tab.
  3. Click the following links in the order listed to search the Standard & Poor's Monthly Industry Review: Market & Industry / By Industry & Topic / Standard & Poor's Monthly Industry Review
  4. Click the radio button in front of Terms and Connectors.
  5. Enter industry (advertising) in the search field.
  6. Click Search.
