United States Department of State

The State Department is in charge of relations between the U.S. and other countries, particularly diplomatic relations.

The Department has a Web page (www.state.gov), which posts extensive information about the Department, U.S. foreign policy and provides information about foreign countries. State Department documents back to 1990 are on Westlaw (USTREATIES).

The Department is a good source for information on U.S. treaties, and the number for the Treaty Desk is 202-647-1345.
