Who created the surveys? Will more topics be added in the future?

Track Administrative Code Changes from 25 States: It's Now Fast and Easy Via New State Regulatory Impact

Potomac Publishing Company® has expanded their lexis.com offering again—this time adding state regulatory impacts to its growing resource mix.

To review: State and Federal Legislative Impact® tracks how laws interact with one another. Quickly assess the potential impact of bills currently before state and federal legislators and get a heads-up of what could be next on the legislative horizon.

Federal Regulatory Impact™ performs the same authoritative cross-referencing of federal regulations. And now, new State Regulatory Impact shows you which administrative code sections are affected by final and proposed rules—and how.

No other online provider offers State Regulatory Impact. Check 25 states: Alaska, California, Colorado, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Hawaii, Idaho, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Maryland, Massachusetts, Minnesota, Missouri, Montana, New York, North Carolina, North Dakota, Ohio, Oklahoma, Texas, Vermont and Virginia. Watch for more states in State Regulatory Impact (and for alert coverage).

Just select a state within the State Regulatory Impact search form. The form automatically morphs to fit that state's administrative code citation format and administrative agencies.

You have searching two options:

1. Enter an administrative code section.

  • For example, select Ohio and, after the OAC (Ohio Administrative Code) box, ENTER: 4715-13-04.
  • Click Find.
  • The default results view shows changes from the last 30 days. Expand your date range to check for changes. Just enter a specific date range or choose from a variety of ranges, from last seven days to last 12 months.
  • Link to the OAC section or to the text of the effecting regulation. (It opens a new window so your impact chart is always just a screen away. You can also print your impact chart.)

2. Select a state administrative agency.

  • Choose your state, e.g., Ohio.
  • That state's agency structure is added to the search form. Select from the AGENCY box, e.g., choose Dental Board.
  • Click Find.

Expand your date range, if you choose. Link to affected administrative code sections or regulatory text.

State Regulatory Impact results are presented in a table (see screen to the right). Each amendment entry is presented separately, and you can collapse (-) sections of long tables to make navigation quicker. To move to all versions of the effecting regulation text, click the link, e.g., 2008 OH 14072. A new window opens, so your results table is still a click away. You can also move directly to the current regulation text. Just click a cite, for example, OAC 4715-13-04.

State Legislative Impact growing as well

Now 20 states are available: (new states in bold) Arizona, California, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Hawaii, Idaho, Illinois, Massachusetts, Michigan, Nevada, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Texas, Virginia, West Virginia and Wyoming.

Potomac Gets a New lexis.com Screen Name

Finding Legislative Impact and Regulatory Impact sources on lexis.com just got a little easier. Now the screen name for this resource is Legislative Impacts & Regulatory Impacts (formerly Potomac Publishing Company Materials).

You'll find it on the LEGAL tab under Federal LegalU.S. (listed right beneath the Federal Register). It also displays in many state menus and practice area menus under Find Statutes, Regulations & Administrative Materials.
