The purpose of this site is to provide up-to-date information about LexisNexis® law school books (casebooks, textbooks, skills based books, study guides, supplements), the different formats of LexisNexis® law school books (looseleaf and digital) as well as the other law school products available for you to use in your courses.

Thank you for your interest in submitting a proposal to LexisNexis. Below is some general information about the proposal process.
The first stage of our proposal process consists of an initial proposal review by our Acquisitions Manager, who then determines whether further market research is needed and/or whether the proposal will benefit from a peer review. Peer reviews may be necessary for a variety of reasons including to determine whether the author's approach is pedagogically sound and sufficiently distinguishable from competing books. If it is determined that a peer review is deemed necessary, the Acquisitions Manager will secure three to four law school faculty members, who are considered experts in the subject matter, to review the proposal. The peer reviewers receive all proposal documents (including a sample chapter) along with a list of questions to guide the review. Peer reviews typically extend the proposal process by two to three weeks. Please note that we will only conduct a peer review with the author's permission.
The second stage of the proposal process involves presenting the proposal to the Acquisitions Committee (consisting of approximately 15 members). A detailed memo is provided to the Acquisitions Committee who then vote on whether to offer a publishing contract. The proposal process can take anywhere from a few days to a few weeks depends on several factors including: the subject matter which forms the basis of the proposal; the thoroughness of the market research conducted; and the competition analysis. A thorough, well-researched proposal can expedite the proposal process significantly.
