BP PLC and MOEX Offshore 2007 LLC and affiliates Mitsui Oil Exploration Co. and MOEX USA Corp., which had a 10 percent interest in the Macondo Well where the Deepwater Horizon oil rig was drilling, announced May 20 that they had reached an agreement in which MOEX USA will pay BP $1.06 billion to settle claims arising from the April 20, 2010, explosion of the rig that caused the oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico.
