11th Circ. Says Employee Exclusion Bars $4M Coverage

The Eleventh Circuit ruled Thursday that Mid-Continent Casualty Co. didn't have to cover a roughly $4.4 million stipulated judgment in a lawsuit over a construction worker's death on the job, ruling an employee exclusion applied because the worker was a "statutory employee” of the policyholder.
