Judge Dismisses Company's Complaint Seeking Enforcement Of English Ruling

WASHINGTON, D.C. - A District of Columbia federal judge on Jan. 8 dismissed a Congolese company's complaint seeking to confirm an English court default ruling against the Republic of the Congo and a department of ministry, finding that the company's attempt at enforcement was preempted in violation of the supremacy clause of the U.S. Constitution (Commissions Import Export S.A. v. The Republic of the Congo, et al., No. 12-743, D. D.C.; 2013 U.S. Dist. LEXIS 2518).
