9th Circuit: Student Loan Grace Period Ended Prior To Filing Of Debtor's Petition

SAN FRANCISCO - A panel of the Ninth Circuit U.S. Court of Appeals on March 26 ruled that the grace period that applied to a debtor's student loan debt had expired before he filed his bankruptcy petition; therefore, the student loan debt was not dischargeable (Eric S. Poynter v. United States of America, No. 10-56751, Chapter 7, 9th Cir.; 2012 U.S. App. LEXIS 6168).
