SAN FRANCISCO - The manufacturer of a machine designed to grind brake linings that would have contained asbestos at the time can be held liable for a man's exposure to asbestos because its product does not fall under the "component parts doctrine," a California appeals court held April 13 (Leonard Shields, et al. v. Hennessy Industries Inc., No. A130213, Calif. App., 1st Dist., Div. 1; 2012 Cal. App. Unpub. LEXIS 2766).
