7th Circuit: Debtor Cannot Discharge Damages Award Owed To Former Wife

CHICAGO - A panel of the Seventh Circuit U.S. Court of Appeals on April 18 affirmed a ruling that a man convicted of attempting to murder his former wife could not discharge the punitive damages debt he owes her in his Chapter 7 bankruptcy (Teri Jendusa-Nicolai v. David M. Larsen, No. 11-1256, Chapter 7, 7th Cir.; 2012 U.S. App. LEXIS 7793).
