AUSTIN, Texas - An enzyme-multiplied immunoassay technique (EMIT) drug test is reliable scientific evidence that does not need a confirmation test to be admissible, the Texas Court of Criminal Appeals held June 6 in what it said was an issue of first impression (Aaron Somers v. State of Texas, No. PD-0056-11, Texas Crim. App.; 2012 Tex. Crim. App. LEXIS 753).
