PHILADELPHIA - Two days after the U.S. Supreme Court allowed Humana Health Plan Inc. to sue Avandia maker GlaxoSmithKline PLC (GSK) for double damages under the Medicare Secondary Payer Act, a Pennsylvania federal judge overseeing the Avandia multidistrict litigation on April 17 remanded to Pennsylvania state court two lawsuits by Humana and health insurer UnitedHealth Group Inc. seeking to recover the costs of treating health plan members who were injured by the diabetes drug and by the antidepressant Paxil and received settlements (In Re: Avandia Marketing, Sales Practices and Products Liability Litigation, MDL Docket 1871, No. 07-md-1871, UnitedHealth Group, Inc. v.
