Apple Abandons 'App Store' Trademark Complaint Against Amazon

OAKLAND, Calif. - Stating that Apple Inc. had issued a covenant not to sue to Amazon.com Inc. in a dispute over the firms' respective rights to the trademark "App Store," a California federal judge on July 9 dismissed Apple's infringement claims (Apple Inc. v. Amazon.com Inc., No. 4:11-cv-01327, N.D. Calif.).
