Judge Refers Case Challenging GMO-Containing Foods Labeled 'All Natural' To FDA

SAN FRANCISCO - Whether foods containing genetically modified ingredients may be labeled as "all natural" falls under the primary jurisdiction of the Food and Drug Administration, a federal judge held July 11 in staying a California unfair competition law (UCL) case and referring the action to the agency (Elizabeth Cox, et al. v. Gruma Corp., No. 12-6502, N.D. Calif.).
