Panel: Producers Owe No Duty After Insurance Policy Was Renewed By Another Producer

CHICAGO - Insurance producers owed no duty to insureds when an alleged loss occurred in 2009 because their duty ceased when the insureds obtained a renewal policy through another producer, an Illinois appeals panel affirmed July 26 (George Garrick and Lainie Garrick v. Mesirow Financial Holdings Inc. and Mesirow Insurance Services Inc., No. 1-12-2228, Ill. App., 1st Dist., 6th Div.; 2013 Ill. App. LEXIS 498).
