Federal Circuit Affirms Attorney Fee Award In Patent Dispute

WASHINGTON, D.C. - A California federal judge did not err in deeming a patent dispute exceptional under 35 U.S. Code Section 285, nor in awarding more than $8 million in attorney fees and costs to two prevailing declaratory judgment plaintiffs, the Federal Circuit U.S. Court of Appeals ruled Aug. 13 (Monolithic Power Systems Inc. and ASUSTeK Computer Inc. v. O2 Micro International Ltd., No. 12-1221, Fed. Cir.).
