6th Circuit Upholds Defense Verdict In Defective Lighter Case

CINCINNATI - The Sixth Circuit U.S. Court of Appeals on Aug. 14 affirmed a defense verdict in a product liability action involving a child who suffered burn injuries due to an allegedly defective cigarette lighter, ruling that the trial court's refusal to give a requested jury instruction was not an abuse of discretion (David R. Cummins v. Bic USA Inc., et al., No. 12-5635, 6th Cir.; 2013 U.S. App. LEXIS 16800).
