Judge Remands Asbestos Insurance Dispute Involving Insolvent Insurance Policies

WASHINGTON, D.C. - An insured fraudulently joined a state insurance guaranty association as a defendant to an asbestos insurance coverage dispute to defeat diversity jurisdiction in the federal courts, a District of Columbia federal judge ruled Aug. 13, finding a lack of subject matter jurisdiction and remanding the case (Walter E. Campbell Co. v. Hartford Financial Services Group Inc., et al., No. 13-0181, D. D.C.; 2013 U.S. Dist. LEXIS 113872).
