Questions Of Fraud, Debt Made Investigation Of Theft Claim Reasonable, Judge Says

TULSA, Okla. - Because an insurer had indications of possible fraud in a vehicle theft claim, an Oklahoma federal judge on Oct. 7 found that there were reasonable bases for subsequent delays in paying the claim due to the insurer's investigation and the insureds' failure to cooperate, disposing of a bad faith claim against the insurer (Etta Barre v. State Farm Fire and Casualty Co., No. 4:12-cv-00507, N.D. Okla.; 2013 U.S. Dist. LEXIS 144591).
