5th Circuit Affirms Dismissal Of Group's Request To Intervene In BP Settlement

NEW ORLEANS - A Fifth Circuit U.S. Court of Appeals panel on Nov. 11 affirmed the dismissal of Gulf Organized Fisheries in Solidarity & Hope Inc.'s (GO FISH) motion to intervene to object to the manner in which a second wave of distributions will be made pursuant to the Seafood Compensation Program portion of BP Production & Exploration Inc.'s $7.8 billion settlement to resolve economic loss and property damage claims stemming from the explosion of the Deepwater Horizon oil rig and ensuing oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico, finding that the group's request was not ripe (In re: Deepwater Horizon - Appeals of the Economic and Property Damage Class Action Settlement, No. 12-31155, 5th Cir.).
