Texas Federal Judge Adjusts Accrual Date For Penalty Interest Against Insurer

HOUSTON - A Texas federal judge on Jan. 10 granted an insured's motion to alter a judgment only as it pertained to the correct accrual date for statutory penalty interest to be assessed against the insurer in a coverage dispute arising out of an oil spill (Cox Operating LLC v. St. Paul Surplus Lines Insurance Co., No. 07-2724, S.D. Texas; 2014 U.S. Dist. LEXIS 3140).
