Mealey's Litigation Procedure - New GM Tells Bankruptcy Judge Ignition Switch Cases Should Be Stayed

NEW YORK - New GM, the reorganized version of formerly bankrupt General Motors LLC, on April 30 sent a letter to the federal bankruptcy judge in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of New York who is slated to hold a hearing on the company's motion seeking an injunction to bar a putative class from seeking damages for faulty ignition switches, arguing that the class should be given 10 days to enter into voluntary stipulations with New GM staying all proceedings in their ignition switch actions (In Re: Motors Liquidation Company, No. 09-50026, Chapter 11, S.D. N.Y. Bkcy.).
