Mealey's Insurance - Insurers Owe More Than $11M To Insureds, Oregon Federal Judge Determines

PORTLAND, Ore. - An Oregon federal judge on June 19 entered an $11 million judgment in favor of insureds seeking coverage for unreimbursed environmental contamination claims after a jury unanimously determined that two insurers owed additional coverage for unreimbursed costs associated with the claims against the insureds (Schnitzer Steel Industries Inc. et al. v. Continental Casualty Co., No. 10-1174, D. Ore.).
