Mealey's Toxic Tort/Environmental - U.S. Attorney's Office: Mining Company To Pay $3.2M To Clean Up Old Mines

LOUISVILLE, Ky. - The U.S. Attorney's Office for the Western District of Kentucky on July 31 announced that Elgin Mining Co., based in Vancouver, British Columbia, has agreed to pay $3.2 million to resolve claims that it failed to comply with the Clean Water Act by not performing mitigation activities at former mining sites in Muhlenberg and Crittenden counties in Kentucky.
