Amazon to Build Distribution Center in Florida, Collect Sales Tax

By the time Congress enacts the Marketplace Fairness Act of 2013 (S. 743), it's liable to have little effect on Internet retailing giant Amazon.com, a company that is rapidly expanding its footprint around the country.
 
The Seattle-based company announced June 13 that it will build a distribution center in Florida, a move that exposes it to the state's 6 percent sales tax. The company reports having similar operations in 14 states, with plans for others in New Jersey and now Florida. Including various subsidiaries, the company has -- or soon will have -- locations in 22 states.
