Jury In Pa. Prempro Trial Awards Punitive Damages; Judge Seals Amount
PHILADELPHIA - A Pennsylvania state jury on Oct. 26 ordered Prempro maker Wyeth Inc. to pay punitive damages to an Illinois woman who claims that her use of the hormone replacement therapy caused her to develop breast cancer, but the judge presiding over hormone replacement therapy mass tort proceedings ordered the amount sealed until the conclusion of a similar case in the same court (Connie Barton v. Wyeth Pharmaceuticals Inc., No. Case No. 040406301, Pa. Comm. Pls.).
