Pfizer Ordered To Pay $852,315 For Discovery Misconduct
SALT LAKE CITY - A federal magistrate judge in Utah on Oct. 28 ordered Pfizer Inc. to pay $852,315 in sanctions in a lawsuit brought by Brigham Young University (BYU) and one of its researchers in a dispute over an agreement involving the discovery of the cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2) inhibitor enzyme after finding that the manufacturer's delayed production of discovery materials to the plaintiffs interfered with the judicial process and was prejudicial (Brigham Young University, et al. v. Bus Companies Ask Magistrate To Rethink Ruling Blocking Search Of Backup Tapes
CAMDEN, N.J. - Six tour bus companies whose owners and operators are black that are accusing a number of New Jersey transportation departments of racial profiling and discrimination on Nov. 4 asked a federal magistrate judge to reconsider his ruling finding that the defendants do not have to search for e-mails on roughly 2,500 backup tapes because the estimated $1 million cost of restoring and searching the tapes renders the information "inaccessible" (Major Tours Inc., et al. v.
